Wayne Schoonover will explain where the money comes from to construct, maintain, and fix Michigan’s roads.  He will look at the Michigan Gas Tax; how much it generates, who pays it, where’s it going, and what we get back.  Using funding projections, he will explain how the 2025 Michigan Transportation Funding Package is changing funding local work for the better. Wayne has more than 37 years of experience as a professional civil engineer and project manager in Michigan, 35 in public service including the Michigan Department of Transportation and several road commissions. He retired from the Grand Traverse County Road Commission as the county highway engineer in 2024.
