Whether it is substance use disorder, gambling, or social media addiction, addiction is addiction. Michigan State Police Trooper Corey Hebner will discuss the pleasure centers of the brain and how they work for the reward of dopamine. He will show several tricks and techniques that social media developers employ to addict users and will show the parallels with other forms of addiction. He will also show how criminals use these tricks to exploit people for financial gain and the crimes they commit with these tactics. Finally, he will show how people can be helped with "Social Media Detox."
