Combining Appalachian string band music, old-time fiddle tunes, blues, gospel, and Scottish/Irish traditional ballads, bluegrass music is a recent American tradition. Members of “Steel and Wood” will show us how the banjo, fiddle, bass, guitar and mandolin are played to create this sound made famous by Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. We’ll even learn how they play “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.”
A buffet lunch will be served around 11:30 am, lecture begins promptly at noon.
