Future Nurses Summer Camp

Class Dates: July 13 - July 16, 2026

This 4 day Summer Nursing Camp is an excellent choice for high school students who live within NCMC's service area and are interested in working in the field of nursing. Through hands-on learning, students will become fluent in Friends and Family CPR, how to take vital signs, and more. Participants will also explore career options and increase their college readiness.

Instructor: Pamela Oshaben, MSN, RN, RNC-OB

Pam Oshaben has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Education and spent most of her career at the Munson Charlevoix Birthing Center. Prior to her current position as the Lead Instructor for the Fast Track Certified Medical Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy courses, Pam was a Clinical Skills Lab Coordinator at North Central Michigan College. She has been with NCMC for 13 years and facilitates engaging conversations with students about patient care, different health professions, and possible career options. 

Prerequisite: Must be entering grades 10-12 Fall of 2026

This 4 day program includes:

  • Friends and Family CPR
  • Vital signs, measurement and interpretation
  • Basic anatomy connected to patient care
  • Identification of major body systems and body parts
  • Guided health assessment using simulation
  • Pediatrics and maternity care concepts
  • Infant and child care differences from adult care
  • Disability awareness through empathy simulation
  • Nursing education pathway preparation
  • Nursing career exploration and role awareness

Take-home materials, scrub top, and daily lunch are provided.
