BLS Instructor Essentials Skills Testing

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Thursday, April 23, 2026

The BLS Instructor Program is designed for individuals who are currently certified in BLS and would like to become an instructor for BLS and Heartsaver CPR/AED courses. This is a multi-part program that includes:

• Completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course
• In-person classroom training (you will need to purchase material prior to class which will be outlined in an e-mail when your application has been approved)
• Student teaching
• Instructor observation

COST: $350

PRE-REQUISITES:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a current BLS Provider card.
• Before registering for the course, participants must email Megan Mainland at mmainland1@ncmich.edu to confirm eligibility to take this course. • Instructor applications must approved by Megan before you can register. She will provide the code that is required to complete your registration.

Megan Mainland is North Central Michigan College's American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator, and an Adjunct Faculty member, that has been teaching CPR for nearly 20 years. She currently monitors other instructors to ensure competency and compliance with AHA certification requirements.
