AHA’s Heartsaver Instructor course provides the knowledge and skills that may help save a life. The skills learned in this course will help you recognize cardiac arrest, get emergency care on the way quickly, and help the person until more advanced care arrives to take over.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE COURSE?

The Heartsaver Instructor Program is designed for individuals who are currently certified in Heartsaver, and would like to become an instructor for Heartsaver CPR/AED courses. This program prepares participants to teach Heartsaver classes and provide high-quality CPR, AED, and first aid education in their communities or workplaces.

The instructor program is a multi-part process that includes:

  • Completion of the Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online Course
  • In-person classroom training
  • Student teaching
  • Instructor observation

COST: $350

PRE-REQUISITES:  Before registering for the course, participants must email Megan Mainland at mmainland1@ncmich.edu to confirm eligibility to take this course. If you have not yet completed an instructor application, please download and fill out, and include in your email to Megan:

Your application must be submitted and approved by Megan before you register. Once your application is approved, you will be provided the code to complete your registration here.

Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this course.


Megan Mainland is an Adjunct Faculty member of North Central Michigan College that has been teaching CPR for over 15 years. She currently monitors other instructors to assure their skills are up to date.
