McMurdo Station is the largest logistics base in Antarctica.  During the Antarctica summer, it supports upwards of 1,000 people, each playing a vital role in research coordinated by the United States Antarctica Program supported by the National Science Foundation.  Although many documentaries have been made about living and working in Antarctica, air traffic control operations on the continent are usually left out.  Ron Bazman, former FAA air traffic controller and recent controller on the frozen continent, will explain how aircraft deliver people and supplies to support science from the Dry Valleys to the South Pole.  He will also provide descriptions of living conditions and how things can become terribly complex when safety is taken for granted.  Wearing survival gear is optional for his talk!

Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this event.
