As a vehicle for reflection and personal growth, the runes complement other systems like tarot, astrology, and oracle. But they are also deeply unique. Originating as an early Germanic writing system, these symbols express aspects of the natural world, as well as concepts and gods specific to early Germanic and Norse cultures. As a writing system, the runes also have deep connections to literature and mythology.

Please join us for a series of three interactive workshops where we will explore the roots and history of the Elder Futhark (the earliest and most well known of the various runic systems), the meanings of its 24 runes, and applications both historical and contemporary. Time permitting, we will also introduce later evolutions of the runes in the Anglo-Saxon and Younger Futharks. As an introduction to runes, these workshops are a great fit for folks who are curious about runes or are otherwise new to working with them; folks more experienced in runelore and applications are also most welcome to join us.

You will need a set of Elder Futhark runes for the workshops; sets are available online or you may find them in area shops like Poetess and Stranger (Petoskey) and Inspired Living (Boyne City). Because runes are not always as widely used as Tarot, you may wish to call local shops first to make sure a set is available.

Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this event.
