One of the oldest traditions in Petoskey is the Winter Carnival.  In the 1930s, many towns held winter carnivals, but the Michigan Winter Carnival was only held in Petoskey.

The week-long mid-winter celebration featured pagentry, fashion shows, snow sports and competitions, skating shows and and mammoth ice thrones built by sculptor Stanley Kellogg.  The Petoskey Winter Carnival Grand Ball was hosted by the governor of Michigan.

Join Little Traverse Historical Museum Executive Director, Jane Garver, as she travels in time through a wealth of entertaining photographs of Petoskey's Winter Carnivals of the past.
