Page to Stage: Shakespeare’s Royalty, Lovers and Fools

Shakespeare’s plays were written to be performed.  In this six-week class we will act up and act out in Shakespeare’s language. Open to all experience levels and abilities.  You need not be a Shakespearean scholar or a Tony award winning actor to join us!

Students will discover tricks and techniques to open and deepen their understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s humorous, dastardly and poignant characters and their stories.

Themes such as power, revenge, love, jealousy, ambition and betrayal will be addressed in our look at select scenes from both tragedies and comedies.

This class is for age levels 18 years and up

Refunds are unavailable for cancellations made within 48 hours of the class

Karen Nemecek is a retired public school teacher who has taught a range of French and English language arts classes to students from ages 5 to 75. High school curricula included the study of Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of Shrew, Richard III, and Hamlet. She also created Drama and Shakespeare classes where students focused on performance of the text. An amateur thespian and lifetime member of Little Traverse Civic Theatre, she has appeared in a number of roles onstage (from a Lizard in Seascape to a dancing Grandmama in Gigi), worked backstage and front-of-house crews, co-directed Much Ado About Nothing, and directed The Lion in Winter.
