In celebrating 2024 as the 50th anniversary of the Little Traverse History Museum, the Historical Society highlighted 50 historic places in Petoskey and shared stories about them.
Join Little Traverse History Museum Executive Director, Jane Garver, as she relays her favorites among those stories along with wonderful photographs from the project. Some subjects of note that will be included in the presentation is the history of the Petoskey Zoo, and how Petoskey got the clock on the waterfront.
The Little Traverse History Museum is housed in the former Pere Marquette train station on the waterfront in Petoskey, built in 1892. The building fell into disrepair after the last trains arrived in the 1960s. It was eventually taken over by the Little Traverse Historical Society and became a showpiece museum in 1974.
