Turkish Marbling with Heidi Reichenbach Finley
Traditional marbling is a historic craft dating back to the 10th century. It is achieved by floating paint on fluid and then transferring these one-of-a-kind designs to paper or fabric. Learn the techniques, tools, and materials that are best for producing the bright, clear patterns which make marbling special.
Day One introduces the craft; familiarizing the student with the necessary chemistry, specialized tools, paper and paint, and includes basic hands-on marbling.
Day Two offers advanced patterns and some fun substrates, with students encouraged to further develop skills by re-visiting favorite patterns and experimenting individually. You’ll have almost complete free-rein of your marbling station on this second day!
For adults and late-teens. Participants need no prior experience in art whatsoever. This workshop is geared toward beginning students, plus others who’ve “graduated” a prior workshop with Heidi and want to further develop these skills.
Participants can expect to take home 20+ completed papers and fabric samples.
Additional information for students: Though aprons are provided by the instructor, please wear unimportant clothing and shoes. Bring rubber gloves if you wish. Marbling is messy fun! Questions? Students may contact the instructor anytime at midwestartist@msn.com or (260) 667-8719
Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this event.
