WILDERNESS FIRST AID (WFA)

This 16-hour Nationally certified wilderness first aid course is open to any outdoor enthusiast in preparation to provide essential first aid in outdoor settings prior to emergency services arrival. This is a SOLO course with a national certification that lasts 2 years. SOLO is a world leader in wilderness medicine,  and this course is designed to prepare participants for the skills and mental preparedness needed to perform first aid in the wilderness.

The WFA course is an entry-level first aid course for the outdoor enthusiast or trip leader, avid campers, fishers, hunters, boaters, hikers, Boy Scouts and their leaders, Park Rangers, people involved in missionary work, or anyone who wants to be prepared for time in the wilderness.

The agenda for this course includes:

  • The approach to the sick or injured patient
  • Patient assessment in the backcountry
  • Managing major blood loss
  • Caring for open wounds
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Major trauma
  • All sorts of commonly seen medical emergencies
Minimum age: 14 years
