This 1.5 hour intergenerational tour is set up for children of all ages and adults to enjoy the Oden Fish Hatchery.   The Hatchery is a must-see cultural treasure of our state. Rearing brown trout and rainbow trout for both inland and Great Lakes waters. It is the site of the original fish hatchery building which began operations in 1921.

On this guided tour, starting at the Visitors Center, we will be exploring the grounds through the nature trails and interpretive exhibits and interactive displays. We will visit the brood stock facility of adult brown and rainbow trout, as well as seeing fish swim in the river through the underwater viewing chamber. In the tour there will be an opportunity for feeding the fish as well. Birders love the hatchery in the summer with the array of feathered friends throughout the trees. Additional exhibits include the vintage 1914-1935 Wolverine train car and the visitors center. Do not forget to bring a camera on this mile long walk around the facility!

This enjoyable tour will allow young and old alike to see why the Michigan Department of Natural Resources mission is to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats, which play such a large part in the success of our environment.
