Eastbound Lighthouse Cruise
The Poe Reef Lighthouse was built on Lake Huron in 1929 to guide mariners through the east end of South Channel between Bois Blanc Island and the mainland of the Lower Peninsula, about 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Cheboygan, Michigan
Experience a Shepler’s Eastbound Lighthouse Cruise and a front row seat to our near east Great Lakes lights!
Begin with a pass under the mighty Mackinac Bridge, then cross the Straits of Mackinac towards the Round Island Lighthouse and Round Island Passage Light. We’ll then head east passing the privately owned Bois Blanc Lighthouse, then finally the Poe Reef Light, and Fourteen Foot Shoal Light before turning into the South Channel. A quick trip up the Cheboygan River takes us past the Cheboygan Crib Light and Cheboygan Front Range Light before heading back to Mackinaw City. Underway, we’ll sail the clear blue waters of Lake Huron while hearing plenty of maritime history from our narrator with the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association.
All Lighthouse Cruises depart from and return to Mackinaw City.
