Celebrating Charlevoix Historical Museum

In celebration of International Museum Day and its theme for 2024 - “Education and Research", go behind the scenes and learn how the Charlevoix Historical Museum is able to take astonishing amounts of written and photographic information and turn it into the award winning publications and exhibits they are known for.

Attendees will learn from Trevor Dotson, Museum Manager of Operations, how the museum attains its ongoing stream of important acquisitions and logs them into digital files for ready access for the public and Museum to use for investigative purposes. Ole Lyngklip, member of the Museum Board of Directors, will hone in on the preserving of museums growing library of photographic archives--a mammoth process the size of which is mindboggling. To complete the presentation museum curator David Miles will give an overview of how the museum puts all of this to work in the form of multiple (even award-winning) publications, exhibits, events, PowerPoint lectures and programs for the community and surrounding area.

After the presentation, attendees will tour the new and popular exhibit titled "The Maritime History of Charlevoix—The City on Three Lakes".  The museum officials will be on hand to discuss the exhibit and answer questions. Also included in the tour will be the Harsha house itself, home of the museum and 3 Victorian period rooms, with many fascinating local historical artifacts.

Refunds are unavailable for cancellations within 48 hours of the tour.
