Get More Done!

Total Course Hours: 3-hours. To receive a certificate of completion, the learner must attend a minimum of 75 percent of the course hours.

Text and Materials: Participants receive Getting Things Done by David Allen, a workbook, handouts and access to electronic files at the first class. Participants can bring and use their own laptop or use the MS Surface laptops provided for the activities. Instructors need: internet access, a projecting device, class materials including PowerPoint and handouts provided during the class.

Need: People deal with a variety of communications at work including phone calls, verbal conversations, emails, texts, and paper. The volume of information and variety in which it happens can be challenging if it is not organized or well managed. Our analysis of industry need, best practices, learner comments, requests for training, and the client reported impacts for this training program clearly indicates a course need.

Target Audience: Any employee who wishes to establish and maintain an organized, disciplined approach to task management within their personal area of responsibility. The orderly capturing, organizing, and dispositioning of tasks reduces time and the high cost and wasted effort.

Instructional Methods: Participants will learn through our exclusive Active Learning Model (ALM) approach which cycles through instruction, application, team activities, and check and debrief sessions.

Course Prerequisites: None.

Description: In this class, we will review the core principles in Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen, as well as the technologies that compliment his model. Get ready to start on a new path to effectiveness!

The following topics are reviewed:

· Identify limitations of current task management system.

· Learn the 5 stages of mastering workflow.

· Identify the steps and tools needed for getting started.

· Identify technology options that support model and your workflow.

· Practice each of the 5 stages as they apply to your workflow.

· Define goals and next steps in your Getting Things Done journey.

Learning Outcomes: After attending this course, learners will have practiced the knowledge and tools needed to be more effective in their task management:

· Identify limitations of your current task management system.

· Describe the five stages of mastering workflow.

· Investigate each of the five stages.

· Identify next steps in your Getting Things Done journey.
