Ernest Heminway

A look at Petoskey, Michigan, a premier tourist destination since the late 1800's. We will explore the city through the eyes of Nobel Prize winning laureate, Ernest Hemingway , who spent the first 23 influential summers of his life on Walloon Lake, just south of Petoskey. After being wounded in WW1, Hemingway chose to recuperate in Petoskey, and began his career as a professional writer of fiction here in 1919. We will see many of the sights that set the stage for his first published novel "The Torrents Of Spring", the setting for his short story "The Killers", along with the rooming house where he stayed and the local speakeasy he frequented during prohibition in the years 1919 and 1920.

Christopher Struble, the owner of Petoskey Yesterday, is an aficionado of both Petoskey and Hemingway. He is a long time member of the executive board & current President  of the Michigan Hemingway Society. Stop by and see Chris at 306 East Lake Street, Petoskey (the Arlington Jewelers store).

Cancellations are non-refundable within 48 hours of this event.
