2 Fused Glass Sailboat Pendants

Come to the “Glassroom” at NCMC make a lovely fused glass necklace. You’ll design and assemble two 2-inch glass pendants using colorful glass scrap. There’s no cutting required. Third year glass artist Heidi Reichenbach Finley makes this a super-fun, relaxed, and social event with friendly guidance for even the most glass-squeamish beginner. And fused glass is also different from blown glass—you won’t be near the heat. Your creation will later be expertly fired smooth in the college kiln room by Lynn Dinning, master glass blower and founder of Good Hart Glassworks in Good Hart, Michigan. Lynn is the dedicated and long-time instructor of ARTS 230 Survey of Glass Techniques at North Central Michigan College.

These make great gifts, and you may decide to make more than two for a smaller additional fee. As with all of Heidi’s classes, participants need no prior experience in glass or art of any kind to be successful. Really!

Completed pendants will be available for pick-up several days later with your choice of leather cord or silver-plated chain. Shipping is available.

Additional information for students: There is no supply list for students. Eye protection is available in the Glassroom, though participants won’t be cutting or breaking glass intentionally. The instructor will provide safety guidelines and support for proper handling of glass. Please dress for work and wear closed-toe shoes. Aprons will be on-hand. Questions? Heidi Reichenbach Finley is a professional artist and art instructor in Petoskey, Michigan. Heidi revels in sharing the traditional craft of marbling with students of all ages. An oil painter living in Petoskey, Michigan, Heidi is one of only a few professional marbling instructors in the nation.
